These guerrilla cartographers are mapping the edible world | Grist:
What does the map of the edible world look like?
This is a school and a Kickstarter project (crowd-sourcing) that led to some interesting results on how local is the food that is "locally grown" in Berkeley, CA.
Apparently a lot of the locally grows was very close, within 25 miles.
But California grows everything. Move this project to off season or out into the mountains and it could be very different.
But, a rather cool project just the same.
